Description:If we're struggling as parents, doing what we've been doing - only more or harder - probably isn't going to work!The question for today: are we willing to be different, willing to swim upstream, not do what our friends are doing?If God asks us to parent in a new way, will we listen?

Description:It isn't easy being a parent today. Our culture is undermining authority and challenging our values. The role of parents is no longer clear and authority is suspect. BUT we need healthy families! The good news is that God believes in families and is ready to help us in our homes!

Description:Our culture tells us it's all about ME. Part of us wants to believe this is true. The problem is it doesn't work! There IS a way to find a happy life, but it's not INSIDE, not ME. Jesus showed us what does WORK.

Description:Peter warns the Christians: when you face opposition, there is more going on than you realilze. Satan is real and it is he who is opposing you. We don't need to be afraid - we need to be careful AND depend on God's help!

Description:In our culture today we've become skeptical of all authority. Yet any group of humans, including the church, need leaders. And in tough times it becomes especially important to have good leaders.Peter talks to both the leaders AND the followers in the church with some important principles for everyone to hear.

Description:When we face opposition, our human tendency is to focus on what other people think of us - how do we fit in. Peter knew that. But he also knew that what GOD thinks of us is way more important that what other humans think!

Description:When people treat us poorly, our human tendency is to respond it kind. The "eye for an eye" approach. We think we'll feel better.Peter challenges us to NOT respond with evil when we are treated with evil. We are called to respond like Jesus and Peter explains why in this passage.

Description:In times of stress, pressure, even rejection - our marriages become very important. Peter wrote to wives (last week) and now he speaks to husbands. How to be a great husband - someone your wife is thrilled she married.

Description:Peter understands that when we are facing opposition, one of the important "resources" to depend on is our own spouse and home. And in times of stress, our marriages can suffer. So he gives some advice, first to the wives / women. He tells us where women can find true beauty, and it's not in their physical appearance.

Description:Peter wants to encourage those facing opposition by showing them what God is doing with them. And what God is doing is just like He did for Jesus!He is building Christians into His own Temple - where the world finds Him. AND He is building us into His own priesthood!

Description:None of us likes to be different - it isn't pleasant nor are people nice. But what happens if we're Christians? Do we fit in or do we listen to God, even if it means we're going to "stick out!"Peter shares some important reasons why we should be willing to be different!

Today we look at his life and see what he has to teach us.Peter wrote a letter we will study this summer: 1 Peter. The letter was written to Christians in an age when it wasn't popular to be a Christian. Peter wrote to give them perspective and hope.

Description:The final (fourth) priority God has given ACC if we are to MOVE foward towards His picture of ACC - to increase the impact ACC is making both in our community and around the world.It isn't time to rest and celebrate yet, we're to be a lighthouse to people lost and dying in a broken world, far from God.

So too our spiritual lives.While our culture says live for self, Jesus challenges that. In fact He says it is a quick way to "lose your life."
