MISSIONS ASSISTANCE COVENANT FOR NORTHWEST BAPTIST CONVENTION (NWBC) AND CANADIAN NATIONAL BAPTIST CONVENTION (CNBC)
PERSONAL EVANGELISM/DISCIPLEMAKING
All pastoral staff consistently SHARES and trains/leads their congregation to SHARE their faith verbally giving people an opportunity to respond as a part of an effort to make and grow disciples.
PERSONAL STEWARDSHIP
All staff, including the lead planter/senior pastor, of the church leads by example through consistently giving a minimum of a TITHE of their gross salary and housing to the local church plant.
MISSION GIVING
Give a MINIMUM OF 10% of your local congregation’s undesignated gifts to Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) or CNBC mission causes on a MONTHLY BASIS, including a minimum of 6% to the Cooperative Program. The remaining 4% may be given to other SBC mission causes, including annual Northwest Impact Offering (SYLVIA WILSON) or the annual CCSB Missions Offering (Harvest); North American missions offering (ANNIE ARMSTRONG); International missions offering (LOTTIE MOON); and SBC or CNBC church plants.
COOPERATION
The congregation is in FRIENDLY COOPERATION with its association, state convention, and national conventions. Participation in annual association and convention gatherings is also expected.
INVITATION
The congregation insures that those individuals participating in worship/celebration services are presented with a clear opportunity to RESPOND to the Gospel through some means.
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
The MEMBERSHIP of congregation is comprised of baptized (immersed) believers who have professed personal faith in Jesus Christ and identify themselves as members of the congregation.
DOCTRINE
The congregation is committed to the BASIC BIBLICAL DOCTRINES as expressed in The Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
GOVERNMENT
The congregation exercises ultimate governance through the MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION. If a church is elder-led, the congregation has a determining voice as to who serves as elders. In the formative years of a church plant, leadership by a board comprised of the lead planter and board members from outside the congregation is acceptable.
BAPTIST IDENTITY
The congregation demonstrates clear denominational IDENTITY. There must be a stated affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention, Great Commission Baptists, and/or the Send Network.
REPRODUCTION
The congregation is working toward the goal of reproducing through the PLANTING of other congregations within five (5) years of starting
missions assistance.
ENCOURAGEMENT
The lead planter/senior pastor participates regularly in a COACHING and/or a PLANTER/PASTOR NETWORK for the purpose of encouragement, prayer, accountability, partnership, and development of themselves and other leaders. The planter/pastor’s spouse is encouraged to do the same, when available. Funded planters are also required to attend the NWBC Annual Church Planters Retreat.
COMMUNICATION
The lead planter/senior pastor COMMUNICATES through timely completion of monthly reports. Congregations that are meeting publicly complete the Annual Church Profile in a timely manner.
